R. Emily Horton is from Surgoinsville, Tennessee and graduated from Volunteer High School. She attended East Tennessee State University and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in History. During her time at ETSU, she co-founded the Pre-Law Society, obtained several leadership positions in various student organizations, and fundraised for Prevent Child Abuse America and Girl Scouts of America.
Emily attended Lincoln Memorial University, Duncan School of Law in Knoxville, Tennessee. She was a member of the faculty selected Peer Leader program, founder of the Peer Mentoring Program, and voted best advocate in her Trial Advocacy class. She received the CALI award for Secured Transactions, which recognizes the individual who scored the highest grade. Additionally, she was awarded the General Oliver O. Howard Pro Bono Award for outstanding service and several academic awards.
During her career, Emily has helped clients secure six figure awards and briefed several successful arguments before the Tennessee Court of Appeals. Her practice areas include personal injury, special needs education, contracts, and civil litigation.
In her spare time, Emily enjoys reading, watching college football, spending time with her family on the lake, and crafting.
